Scott has experienced his own share of injury undergoing shoulder surgery and also overcoming a serious lower back injury. This personal experience with injury allows him to be empathetic and understand what it is like to be on the other side of injury.

Scott has been involved in a research capacity at the Surfing Australia High performance centre and has published research in the area of musculoskeletal shoulder assessment.

Scott is also a published writer with Surfing Life Magazine and spends a month each year working at Hidden Bay Resort in the Mentawai Islands.
